A Brief report of Mumbai visit

Respected Sir, With your kind permission we have visited Institute of Chemical Technology and Merck Research Center, Mumbai on 7th Feb. 2020. We are hereby submitting a brief report of this visit.

Objective

The objective of this visit was to create awareness among the students about current research scenario in pharma arena

One Day Visit at Institute of Chemical Technology and Merck Research Center, Mumbai

  • We have organized one day visit to Institute of Chemical Technology and Merck Research Center Mumbai on 7th Feb. 2020. Main purpose behind the visit was to aware the students about current research scenario in pharma industries.
  • Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai is one of the leading institute in India conducting various research projects in a field of pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical chemistry
  • Merck is a German multinational pharmaceutical, chemical and life sciences company headquartered in Darmstadt and Research and development site located at Mumbai, Maharashtra
  • In first half of the day we visited various departments of ICT Mumbai including department of Biotechnology, Department of Chemistry, Department of Dyestuff Technology, Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology.
  • Ph.D. scholars of ICT gave a brief induction about ICT historical development, the prominent alumni and the various departments of institute
  • Dr. Vandana Patravale madam guided the students regarding various ongoing research projects at ICT Mumbai and demonstrated handling of various instrument present in Nontechnology lab.
  • During the visit to Pharmaceutical Chemistry department Dr. Vikas Telvekar directed the group of students about recent development in pharmaceutical chemistry, research project going in P’ceutical chemistry department and various instruments used in synthesis and analysis.
  • In second half we visited Merck Research Center where Principal Scientist Dr. Hemgir Gosavi Sir gave brief introduction about Merck Co limited, past, present and future prospectus. He also elaborated the pilot scale research and advances in formulation development technique. Dr. Suruchi Vishwasrao demonstrated the different formulation technique including hot melt method, co-solvent methods and Extrusion technique.
  • In second half we visited Merck Research Center where Principal Scientist Dr. Hemgir Gosavi Sir gave brief introduction about Merck Co limited, past, present and future prospectus.
