Under the joint initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, New Delhi, and Mera Yuva Bharat, Rajarshi Shahu College of Pharmacy, Buldhana, was officially selected as the Nodal College for Buldhana district for the ambitious program “Viksit Bharat District Youth Parliament.” This selection is considered a matter of great pride in view of the college’s academic excellence, organizational capability, and social commitment.
Accordingly, the District-Level Youth Parliament was organized on 28 February 2028 at the college in an enthusiastic atmosphere. Principal Dr. Shirish Jain served as the Nodal Principal for the program, while Mr. Rohit Salkute efficiently handled the responsibilities of planning, coordination, and execution as the District Nodal Officer. The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers worked diligently to ensure the grand success of the event. Students demonstrated exemplary discipline, teamwork, and social responsibility.
The program commenced with lamp lighting and Saraswati worship at the hands of distinguished dignitaries. The chief guests included Mr. Nayan Sharma (Chairman, Water Supply Committee, Municipal Council, Buldhana), Mr. Bablu Mavatwal (Corporator, Buldhana), Dr. Hanumant Bhosale (District NSS Coordinator, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University), Mr. Anil Gawai (Journalist, Lokmat, Khamgaon), and Mr. Pranit Sangvekar (District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat). The program was presided over by Vice Principal Dr. Prakash Kendre. The dignitaries guided the youth with inspiring thoughts, urging them to uphold democratic values and contribute positively to societal transformation.
In his introductory address, Prof. Rohit Salkute elaborated on the concept of Youth Parliament, its objectives, youth participation in democratic processes, and the national vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.” He emphasized the importance of parliamentary procedures and encouraged students to be active participants rather than mere spectators in democracy.
On the contemporary and thought-provoking topic, “50 Years of the Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy,” a total of 102 students aged between 18 and 25 from across the district participated enthusiastically. Participants presented well-researched views citing historical references and discussed the significance of democracy, constitutional values, freedom of expression, responsible leadership, and the role of citizens. Notably, students presented their arguments logically and confidently while adhering to parliamentary traditions. The evaluation panel comprised Dr. Gautam Mehetre, Dr. Sangameshwar Kanthale, Prof. Satish Shelke, Dr. Deepak Bhusari, and Prof. Rushikesh Divre, who assessed and guided the participants.
This initiative is an important component of the national vision “Viksit Bharat @2047” and aligns with the inspiring call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to nurture one lakh young leaders. Through this platform, youth are developing leadership qualities, communication skills, knowledge of parliamentary procedures, discipline, a sense of responsibility, and social commitment.
After the competition, lunch arrangements were made for all participants. Subsequently, an informative documentary and PPT presentation on “Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect” was screened. The presentation provided detailed insights into national development initiatives, government schemes, and the role of youth in the country’s progress.

All winners were congratulated and extended best wishes for the State-Level Youth Parliament. Prizes and certificates were distributed by the dignitaries. The President of the institution, Mr. Dhrupatraoji Sawale, appreciated the program and congratulated the organizers. He especially praised the Principal’s planning skills for securing the nodal college appointment.
The program was effectively anchored by Ms. Pranjal Mapari and Mr. Aditya Raut, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Rohini Jandhal. The successful organization of the event was made possible through the efforts of Prof. Rohit Salkute, Prof. Meena Bhalke, Prof. Satish Shelke, Prof. Ashish Tale, Mr. Abdul Majid, Mr. Pandurang Bhosale, Mr. Pramod Varnakar, Mr. Ajaysing Rajput, Mr. Dhananjay Chafekar, Mr. Akash Chafekar, Mr. Shivam Rindhe, and all NSS volunteers. Guidance was also received from Dr. Nilesh Kadu (NSS Coordinator, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University), Mr. Ajay Shinde (Regional Head, NSS), and Mr. Pranit Sangvikar (District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat).
The program concluded with the National Anthem. Overall, the “Viksit Bharat District Youth Parliament” proved to be a significant initiative in fostering democratic awareness, developing leadership capacities, and ensuring active youth participation in nation-building. The event was a matter of pride for Buldhana district, and the college expressed its commitment to organizing similar constructive initiatives in the future.
