A Drug Awareness Program was successfully organized at Rajarshi Shahu College of Pharmacy, Buldhana, under the guidance of Dr. Shirish Jain, Principal, with the objective of educating students about the harmful effects of narcotic drugs and creating awareness about legal provisions related to drug abuse. The program was conducted in collaboration with Vidhi Seva Pradhikaran, Buldhana, and the Food and Drug Department, Buldhana.
The program commenced with a traditional Deep Prajwalan (lamp-lighting ceremony), symbolizing the spread of knowledge and awareness. This was followed by a guest felicitation ceremony, during which the esteemed dignitaries were warmly welcomed and honored.
Following the felicitation, Mr. Rohit P. Salkute, NSS Program Officer, delivered the introductory address, emphasizing the importance of drug awareness among youth and outlining the objectives of organizing such programs in educational institutions.
Thereafter, Mr. Nitin Patil, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Joint Civil Judge (Senior Level), District Court, Buldhana, addressed the gathering. He explained various legal provisions and acts, including the POCSO Act, revenue-related laws, and other legal frameworks, highlighting their significance in safeguarding society and preventing drug-related offenses.
Subsequently, Mr. Gajanan Ghirke, Assistant Commissioner (Drugs), Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra State, Buldhana, delivered an informative session on narcotic drugs. He elaborated on their adverse physical, mental, and social effects, guided students on ways to stay away from drug abuse, and encouraged them to actively participate in spreading awareness in society.
The program was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Prakash Kendre(Vice Principal), Dr. Ashish Gawai(HOD), Dr. Shailesh Kewatkar(HOD), Dr. Somnath Vibhute(OSD), Dr. Dipak Bhusari(Academic Incharge), Mr. Satish Shelke, Prof. Rushikesh Diware, along with Mr. Rohit Salkute, non-teaching staff, and students.
The anchoring of the program was effectively carried out by Yash Mitkari and Pranav Wahile (B. Pharm students). The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Miss Lata Ingle (B. Pharm student), expressing gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and participants.
Overall, the Drug Awareness Program was highly informative and impactful, reinforcing the message of a drug-free, healthy, and responsible society.
