IIC organized a session on “Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Business Model Fit”

Rajarshi Shahu College of Pharmacy, Buldana’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) organized a session on “Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Business Model Fit” for Pharmacy students on 17th May 2026. The session aimed to introduce students to structured business planning tools essential for translating innovative ideas into viable ventures. The resource person for the session was Dr. Ashish Gawai, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Rajarshi Shahu College of Pharmacy, Buldhana.
Dr. Ashish Gawai began the session by explaining the concept and significance of the Business Model Canvas as a strategic management tool used to visualize, design, and test business models. He elaborated on the nine key building blocks of the canvas – customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, and cost structure – and how each element contributes to a cohesive business strategy. The speaker further discussed the concept of Business Model Fit, emphasizing how startups and innovators must continuously validate their business model against real market needs and customer expectations to achieve sustainable growth. Practical examples and case-based discussions helped students relate the concepts to real-world startup scenarios.
The students expressed their gratitude to Dr. Ashish Gawai for his practical insights and the motivation to apply structured business modelling to their own innovative ideas within the startup ecosystem. Overall, the program was successful in achieving its objectives by equipping students with essential knowledge of the Business Model Canvas and Business Model Fit.
