Department of Pharmacognosy
Pharmacognosy is the study of the chemistry, biochemistry, biology, taxonomy, and ethno biology of natural products from plant, animals, marine and other life origins. Areas of active interest include natural products chemistry, isolation, characterization and biological studies of phytoconstitutents using animal models, herbal cosmetics, novel herbal formulations, and their standardization. Our current research foci are cancer, diabetes, asthma etc and Plant tissue culture. The department has excellent facilities for research in the major areas of Pharmacognosy, and faculties have been highly successful in attracting research support. Department also organizes, seminars and workshops on relevant topics on medicinal plants and their usage.

Medical Plant Garden
The institute has developed a medicinal plant garden in the institutional campus. The trust has also a well developed Ayurvedic College adjoining to our institute. The medicinal plant garden has around 500 species of the medicinal plants.
