As per the directions of the Office of His Excellency the Governor and Hon. Chancellor, Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, ‘Aahvan Chancellor’s Brigade’ (Maharashtra State Inter-University Disaster Preparedness Training Camp) was organized at Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati from 07th to 16th November, 2024. This training camp was organized in a planned and well-planned manner. Various sub-committees were formed for the successful organization of this camp. NSS Po of our College Mr. Rohit Salkute were appointed in management of this disaster management Camp. National Service Scheme (NSS) officers and volunteers were appointed in these committees. Also, our NSS volunteers Mr Diagambar Hulgunde(B. Pharmacy 3rd Year) and Miss Bharati Barhate(B. Pharmacy 3rd year) were participated in this camp.
Objective of the camp
- To impart knowledge about disaster management and rescue technology.
- To train volunteers for immediate relief work during natural and man-made disasters.
- To guide students on CPR, first aid, water rescue, as well as how to respond appropriately during disasters.
Camp Program
Various sessions were organized during the 10-day duration of the camp. These included practical and theoretical sessions.

- Disaster Management and First Aid Training
- CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support) Training
- Snake Bite and Animal Bite Treatment
- Flood Rescue and Rope Rescue Techniques
- Fire Safety and Earthquake Management
- Muscle-Skeletal Injuries
- Water Rescue Training
Camp Schedule:
Regular physical exercise, disaster management sessions and demonstrations were included for the participating students in the camp. Lectures and hands-on sessions were organized on various topics every day.
Daily Key Activities:
- Morning: Yoga, Physical Training, First Aid Technology Sessions.
- Afternoon: Disaster Management Training, Water Rescue and Disaster Relief Technology.
- Evening: Various group sessions, group discussions and games.
Key Training Techniques and Their Importance
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- A very important measure to save lives.
- It is used to provide immediate assistance to a person who has stopped breathing.
- Timely CPR increases the chance of survival by 2-3 times.
- Splinting (immobilizing bones and joints)
- Useful to keep bones in proper position after injury.
- Reduces the severity of injury by controlling movements.
- Useful for rehabilitation after surgery.
- Water Rescue (Water Rescue)
- Skill training to save drowning persons.
- Useful for swimming and relief work during floods or inundations.
- Important training for public safety.
Results and Conclusions of the Camp
This camp increased the capacity and awareness of disaster management among the students.
National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers showed excellent participation during the training.
It was felt that such disaster management camps should be expanded in the future. Our Management and principal of RSCP Dr. Shirish Jain were congratulated the Prof. Rohit Salkute and both NSS Volunteers for successful conduction of this camp.
